Each year two outstanding sociology students are awarded either the Jane Addams Community Engagement Award or the Max Weber Excellence in Sociology Award.

The recipient of the Jane Addams Community Engagement Award is a sociology major with a respectable GPA, who is active in the community (campus or at large) and/or working towards social change.
